Powerfully rhythmic avant garde music, more from the new age folk culture than the traditional. Their music is based on original songs, with plenty of instrumental content and with complex eastern european rhythms predominating.
Two lead performers make equal contributions. Visually striking Athene Roberts sings and plays fiddle, Tim Ashton sings, plays 12-string guitar and a pedal drum. He also occasionally plays the whistle, and provides exuberant vocal calls. All ably supported by Jamie Waters on bass guitar.
Their energetic and highly visual stage act has instant appeal even if you don't know the music, but their songs have greater depth which retain interest on repeated listening.
